BREAKING: APC National Chairman Adamu announces Lawan as consensus candidate

Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan has been announced as consensus candidate by the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Adamu’s announcement of Lawan at the National Working Committee meeting of the APC on Monday few hours to the delegates convention was contrary to power shift which has been a subject of late debate, but which about ten APC Northern governors agreed in order to keep the party healthy and strong.

But right in the NWC meeting, CAPITAL POST gathered that some members of the Committee vehemently opposed the announcement and insisted that the field must be left open for a contest.

A source said: “However, some members of the NWC, insisted that Presidential aspirants like Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Engr. David Umahi must be allowed to contest the primary election at tomorrow’s convention scheduled at the Eagle Square, Abuja.”

CAPITAL POST reports that Abuja is agog with most first class hotels fully booked.

All the governors on the APC platform are well in the FCT making last minute contact and negotiation as none could actually know the mind of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Earlier in the morning of Monday, the National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Bola Tinubu quickly left for Ondo State to commiserate with the victims of At. Francis Catholic church attack by terrorists that left scores dead and several others critically injured.

After he donated the sum of N75 million to the victims, he quickly rushed back to Abuja to continue the push for delegates votes.
