Borno Dep governor inspects UNDP stabilization facilitation projects in three Borno LGAs

Borno State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Umar Usman Kadafur has led the members of the Security Planning and Coordination Group committee for the facilitation and implementation of the UNDP project alongside UNDP staff for the inspection of 500 housing estate at Ngarnam Village in Mafa Local Government. adsbygoogle || []).push({});

The Deputy Governor while inspecting the project commended the progress and quality of the project, stressing that the project when completed will help in solving the accommodation problem in the area as well as assist the State government in its resettlement effort.

He also commended UNDP for the special intervention and promised to ensure the safety of the project by reinforcing security in the area, in addition to the existing ones while the trench would be evaluated and maintained.

Kadafur assured that all that is required for the speedy completion of the project would be provided by the committee and commended all the site engineers for adhering strictly to the project plan.

The UNDP project under the regional stabilization facility Nigeria’s window is being carried out presently at Ngarnam in Mafa, Damboa, Banki in Bama and Monguno Local Government Areas, while there is a similar proposal for the construction of the projects in Ngala and Gwoza Local Government Areas.

The plan of the project which consist of 500 houses is being implemented through contract process by UNDP in collaboration with the Borno State Government through the Ministry for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement and already 300 houses are due for commissioning in the next 2-3 weeks.

The site according to the Senior site civil Engineer UNDP Mrs. Asmahan comprises of market load one and two, school, clinic, police station, Police and teachers quarters,Community Center, boreholes, mosque and village head’s residence among others.

Mrs. Asmahan appealed to the State government to ensure that the project is fully protected and secured and assured to carry out the project according to the original plan.

He was conducted round the project site by the Secretary Mafa local government and some engineers at the site.
