Bandits release kidnapped student after two years in captivity

The last victim of the Bethel High School pupil kidnapped in Kaduna, Treasure Ayuba, has been released after two years in captivity.

Recall that gunmen had in the early hours of Monday, July 5, 2021, stormed the school owned by a church in Damishi, Kaduna and abducted 121 students of the school.

While others were released, Ayuba was the last victim to regain his freedom. He was released on Thursday, November 2, 2023, and has since reunited with his family.

President of the Nigeria Baptist Convention (NBC), Rev Israel Akanji, who confirmed his release in a statement said: “Glory be to God! Glory be to God!! Glory be to God!!! Treasure Ayuba, the last boy who was still with the bandits who kidnapped the 121 students of Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna, on July 5, 2021, has just returned home.
