The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Kogi State Chapter has expressed concern at the spate of attacks by terrorists and most recently the bomb attack at Kaduna Airport and the Abuja-Kaduna bound train that left scores dead and many abducted.

The Association has declared that FG’s policy on security matters has failed, adding that the matter of insecurity hasn’t been handled with the needed competence, a development they said, has left devastating effect on innocent Nigerians. com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"> com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js">

Chairman of the Association, Dr Simeon Omakoji Oyiguh in a statement on Wednesday disclosed that he personally used the train service over the weekend while travelling from Abuja to Kaduna on Saturday and Sunday for the activities of the Nigerian Medical Association in Zaria.

He said while travelling on the train he became apprehensive as he couldn’t see any serious architecture of security manning the railway beat, a declaration that government was not on top of security on the road and on the rail track.

He maintained: “From the look of things, the rail track and even air transport has begun to be openly threatened with the latest experience at Kaduna Airport where terrorists successfully killed one Airport Staff.”

He added: “The Federal Government should note that the death of Dr Chinelo Nwando Megafu in the Kaduna bound train, in her attempt to escape the situation of frustration in the country, is a clear signal to Nigerians of the state of the nation and the reaction to the performance of governance in Nigeria.

The Chairman also noted that another doctor who was on the train, Dr Mustapha Imam, is not yet found. The NMA Chairman calls on Nigerians not to continue to depend only on the knee jerk approach of leadership, but begin to think of innovative ways to keep alive under the current threat to lives and property in Nigeria.
