Activist frowns at N45 billion new Bayelsa Gov’t Secretariat contract, calls for probe
A foremost activist, Deji Adeyanju has frowned at the Bayelsa Government House Secretariat contract, saying the contract should be probed by the anti-graft agencies.
He said, the contract was too humongous to behold, describing it as extravagant and unacceptable, particularly that the State is struggling with finances.
Adeyanju, who is a lawyer lashed at Bayelsa State governor, Duoye Diri for a decision to spend that humongous fund on the new Secretariat complex poverty.
He stated this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja and urged anti-graft agencies to investigate the contract award.
The statement reads, “I urge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to promptly investigate this contract award, ensuring transparency and accountability in the utilization of public funds. The people of Bayelsa State deserve to know how their resources are being allocated.
“This lavish spending undermines the trust between the government and its citizens. I call on the EFCC to investigate the contract award process for potential irregularities and ensure compliance with public procurement regulations.
“The EFCC must safeguard Nigeria’s financial integrity and hold public officials accountable for their actions.”
