An ex-Presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba has counselled the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi to step down for the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Garba who contested for presidency on the platform of APC before he left to form the Young Progressives Party, said, his advice to Obi was at the backdrop of his scanty rally at Portharcourt.

He wrote on his tweet on Thursday, saying pictures of Obi rally showed that the people that turned out at the venue was half.

Garba who has since rejoined the APC accused Obi of sidelining the South East in his ongoing campaign, a situation he said led to poor turnout of people at Portharcourt.

Garba tweeted, “Peter Obi’s disappointing rally in Port Harcourt today should serve as a perfect breakfast from his aspiration.

“He should immediately step down and endorse the real and truly prepared Presidential Candidate; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu & stop isolating Southeast from the center,” Garba said.

CAPITAL POST recalled that Garba angrily left APC in July after he was unable to raise N100 million for the presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination Form, having raised only N83 million.

According to him, he left the APC at the time due to alleged anti-democratic policies of the party hierarchy, stressing that the party tended to exclude the young people from contributing their quota.

He said, “What informed my decision were certain steps the party had taken over time that seem to betray the tenets of democracy. A situation where people went for a convention and it turned out to be an enthronement.

“At the same time, we young people in the party are completely alienated. The more you bring new ideas, new solutions and suggest changes, the more you are perceived as an enemy and somebody that should be thrown out of the window.
