Ondo man bravely disarm robber, arrest him in attempt to rape wife

In a rare bravery, a man in Idanre community in Idanre Local Government Council of Ondo State on Wednesday fought a robber after robbing his family of valuables.

Not done with that the armed robber who identified as Tosin Omoniyi, one out of many that came to operate, attempted to rape the victim’s wife, but he could not wait to see the ugly incident and pounced on the robber, got hold of his gun and aborted the rape operation.

He was later arrested and his arrest led to the arrest of others who were identified by the Police as Ojo Rotimi, Jimoh Dele, Uwanfor Destiny, Babajide Moses, Tope Gbenga, John Simeon, Akinniranye Blessing, Jude Stephen and Iranlowo Ayomide.

On the whole, the Ondo State Police Command said, 14 robbers were arrested from different parts of the State based on the information provided by the criminal.

The Police narrated that the suspect gained entrance into the apartment through the window around 1am and dispossessed the couple of their money and other valuables.

Parading the suspects on Wednesday in Akure, Ondo State capital, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who paraded the suspect, said they would soon be charged to court.

The PPRO said the husband of the wife summoned courage and pounced on Tosin Omoniyi when he attempted to “rape the wife, arrested the him with the help of neighbours, and dispossessed him of his gun.”

Odunlami also stated that the suspect’s 55-year-old mother, Mrs Tale Akinlabi, was arrested for allegedly helping him to keep stolen items.
