Kogi West PDP primaries: Election deadlocked between Dino, T.J Yusuf

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election for Kogi West Senatorial District ended in deadlock late Monday between Senator Dino Melaye and Hon. Tijani Yusuf.
After the election which was keenly contested by the duo, Dino Melaye scored 88 votes and his rival Tijani Yusuf also scored 88 votes, hence, no contestant was declared winner.
Dino Melaye had previously represented Kogi West Senatorial district twice, first on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 before he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party where he contested and won in 2019, but was removed by Senator Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress through a Tribunal.
Hon. Tijani Yusuf is currently a member
representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi and want to move to the upper legislative Chamber in 2023.
The PDP said there will be a rerun between the two aspirants today.
