The Council of Ethnic Youth Leaders of Nigeria (CEYLN) says it is alarmed over sponsored plot to blackmail the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Godwin Emefiele’s over his economic recovery plans.

The Council, which is made up of the Arewa Consultative Youth Movement, Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Youth Movement, Oduduwa Youths Assembly, Middle Belt Youths Vanguard, South South Youth Council and several other ethnic youth groups all around the country in a statement signed by Nwada Ike Chiamaka for Ohaneze Secretary-General and 4 others which was made available to CAPITAL POST in Abuja on Wednesday, expressed concern that a small group of misguided youths are ready to mortgage their future and those of upcoming generations.

The group noted that the CBN governor was being blackmailed because of a few naira notes from disgruntled and highly placed members of the public who want to bring down the nation’s economy because of personal gains and vaulted political ambition is something we have found very difficult to understand. adsbygoogle || []).push({});

The coalition condemned the frivolous court case already instituted by a certain Sesugh Akume before the Federal High Court and the statement from one Mohammed Salihu Danlami who they say is illegally occupying the office of Speaker of the Arewa Youth Assembly all said to be coordinated and sponsored from highly placed persons who sabotage the government in the night, but pretending to be supporting the government but willing to see Mr. Emefiele blackmailed out of office so that they can take over the bank and use the Apex bank to fund their political ambitions.

“We want the general public to know that these unscrupulous elements want their boys to be in charge of the apex bank so that they can continue to milk the nation dry and use it to fund their vaulted political ambitions” and in the long run sabotage Buhari govt good efforts ,the statement read.

Credible information at our disposal shows that a huge amount of money has been budgeted for this campaign and different other groups and names will be coming up with more ridiculous claims and allegations in the coming days.

Nigerians should not be deceived, Emefiele and his team are working hard day and night to ensure that they continue to formulate policies that will further strengthen the nation’s economy and the results are already being seen from the latest figures on the tremendous growth of the GDP from the National Bureau of Statistics.

This heavily sponsored campaign to blackmail the CBN governor and discredit the economic agenda of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari will therefore not work. Also the security agencies having been formally alerted will stop this threat to national security.

“Nigerian youths from all the geopolitical zones of this country, who are more interested in the prosperous future of this country as against immediate financial gains from unscrupulous elements, are therefore, by this statement, passing a vote of confidence on Emefiele and his team,” the coalition said.

We also declare unflinching support for the economic agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari because we believe strongly that a stable and prosperous future awaits us all.
