Anambra guber: Hope brightens for Soludo as Appeal Court decide on APGA leadership

A Court of Appeal sitting in Kano has affirmed Chief Victor Oye as the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

Victor Oye’s faction produced the former Central Bank Governor and professor of Economics Charles Chukwuma Soludo, hence, the Appeal Court affirmed Soludo as the candidate for November 6 governorship election.

Jude Okeke and Chief Victor Oye have been battling for the soul of APGA in which they have been involved in forum shopping that saw Jigawa State High Court sitting in Birnin Kudu delivered judgement in favour of Jude Okeke leadership on 30th June, 2021.

Professor Soludo is backed by Anambra State governor, Chief Willy Obiano.

Reacting to the judgement of the Appeal Court on Tuesday, Anambra State commissioner of Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C. Don Adinuba, described the judgement as hope in the Nigerian judiciary.

Adinuba noted that Anambra people have all along been expecting a unanimous judgment in favour of APGA, especially since last Wednesday when the APGA and Oye team of lawyers led by Wole Olanipekun, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and Patrick Ikwueto, another SAN election petition expert, addressed the court.

“They had an excellent case and presented it in such an incisive manner that even laymen knew that they were bound to win decisively”, said the commissioner.

Meanwhile, Governor Willie Obiano also described the Court of Appeal judgment as “victory for the APGA family.

Chief Obiano, who is also APGA National Leader and Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, said, “APGA is going into the election as a people’s movement, and this will see us win all 21 local government areas of the state as we did in 2017.
