CSO reminds EFCC of fraud allegations against Yahaya Bello

A Civil Society Organisation, Anti-Corruption Network has reminded the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of petition of massive fraud against Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello which was submitted to it in February this year.
The anti-corruption organisation had petitioned the EFCC to investigate Bello and his cohorts over allegations in Kogi.
On 16th February, the CSO alleged fraud allegations by Kogi State governor and some key officials in his government as well as business associates with bank transaction details to support the petition.
The CSO in the petition claimed that the fraud was perpetuated between 2016 – 2019.
But in the statement issued and made available to media houses, the CSO wondered at how the anti-graft agency was yet to commence investigation six months after it submitted a petition, threatening that they might resort to legal action, if the EFCC fails to do the needful within the time frame given to them. adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The group reminded the EFCC of its its commitment to fighting corruption when the Chairman, Absulrasheed Maina took over.
The statement asserted: “We hope you don’t affirm the rumours that the EFCC is just a toothless bulldog.
“We urge you to redeem the image and confidence of millions of Nigerians in you by using your good offices to carry out further investigations into the matter and bring the perpetrators to book forthwith.
“However, we wish to let you know that if no positive response is being received from the commission we shall have a recourse to all legal means in our disposal,” the statement read in part.
