Buhari decorates COAS, Lt-Gen. Farouk Yahaya

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Farouk Yahaya has been decorated by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The newly appointed Chief of Army Staff succeeded late Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, who was killed together with 10 other military commanders in a military jet accident in Kaduna on May 21.

Yahaya hailed from Sokoto and he was the Theater Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, a counter-insurgency operation in the in the crisis riddled Northeast.

Members of the Federal Executive Council, as well as security chiefs such as Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, Chief of the Air, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, and Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Maj. Gen. Sunday Adebayo, were present at the ceremony.

Yusuf Bichi, Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and Usman Baba, Inspector General of Police (IGP), were among the others in attendance.
