Plateau LG election: PDP won’t impose candidates – says Sen. Ogbeha

The Chairman of the Plateau State Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP recently constituted by the National working Committee Sen. Tunde Ogbeha has said they will not impose any candidate for the planned Local Government Elections slated for October, 2021 in the State.
He said, the PDP in the State will only present candidates that are elected by the majority of the people during the primaries to contest the local government election in the State.
Sen. Ogbeha stated this at the PDP secretariat, Jos while Briefing Journalists on the preparedness of the party to participate in the Local government elections.
“We don’t have a preferred candidates and we are not going to impose candidates, but we will ensure only candidates elected by majority of the people will contest the election. ”
He assured PDP supporters that they will do their best base on their mandate and report back to the National working Committee of the party, PDP.
“We are here with the mindset to deliver on the mandate on the best interest of the party, majority of stakeholders and all party faithful by providing a level playing ground for all to actively participate in rebuilding the party”.
The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee promised that PDP is ready to take over power in all the 17 Local government of plateau State, saying the party will present candidates that the people have chosen.
“We are expecting, hoping and trusting that the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC will be independent enough to do the needful and the right thing and conduct free, fair and credible election that will be acceptable to the people of Plateau State”.
He added that within the three months of their mandate they will bring all stakeholders together and build a united party in the State.
“Plateau State as we all know is a PDP state, so forget about the interim governance that is taking place, and we hope by the LG election we will do our best to reclaim the State”.
It would be recalled that NWC of the party had dissolved Plateau Executives of the party due to court case against the Congress that elected them and appoints State Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the State for a period of not more than 90 days with effect from 10 June, 2021.
