The Action Democratic Party ADP, felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah as they join their brethren the world over in celebrating the Eid al fitr which marks the end of a month-long period of fasting accompanied by intense acts of worship and prayers to the Almighty Creator in the glorious month of Ramadan.

The party said, the exercise is a fulfilment of one of the enjoined five pillars of the Islamic faith.

In a statement which was signed by the party’s National Chairman, Engr. Yabagi Yusuf Sani and made available to CAPITAL POST in Abuja on Thursday, ADP commends Muslim compatriots who demonstrated faith against the backdrop of the fact that they went through this year’s Ramadan, like those in the recent past, under an atmosphere of unprecedented, excruciating economic hardship compounded by a frightening reign of insecurity.

The statement said: “No thanks to the failures and incompetence of the nation’s extant political leadership as well as, the ruinous effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the global economy.

“The ADP family, in the spirit of this holy season, prays that Allah SWT, the Omnipotent, the Omniscient and the Merciful accepts and grants the prayers and supplications by our Muslim faithful for themselves and for the nation.

“May He, the Most High grant our fervent prayers offered in the preceding days against poverty, insecurity and all other forms of pestilence as we also beseech Him to touch the hearts of our leaders and direct them towards the path of selflessness, fairness, equity and fear of the day of judgment in the hereafter.

“For emphasis, the ADP wishes to seize this auspicious season to once again draw attention of all categories of the nation’s leadership to the ticking time bomb consequent on the very deteriorating economic downturn, social dislocations and, massive unemployment among the teeming youths leading to widespread restiveness and a drift towards anarchy.

“Call us alarmists or any of the other names official spokespersons usually give in response to honest words of advice, however, the ADP is convinced that any clear sighted reading of the pictures hanging on the nations horizon will indicate clear signs and warnings that time may be running out!

“On the other hand, the ADP similarly condemns in very strong terms the unpatriotic daredevils who have taken up arms against the rest of us and unleashing deaths, pains and destruction either as insurgents, bandits, separatists, ethnic warlords and kidnappers among other ungodly epithets.

“We particularly abhor and condemn in no uncertain terms, those of the evil groups and persons who, even in the holy month of Ramadan and claiming to be Muslims did not desist from their god forsaken acts of senseless killings and wanton destruction.

“The ADP therefore joins in the prayers by overwhelming majority of Muslims that the wrath of Allah SWT should descend on His enemies, the hypocrites and tormentors of humanity.

“To our mainstream Muslims who happily understand the real meaning and essence of Islam as a religion of peace, the ADP’s words of advice is for them to keep radiating the positive message and colours of their faith by exhibiting throughout the coming days and months the spirit of Ramadan.”
