Youth Council of Nigeria applauds Bawa’s appointment as EFCC Chairman

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), will continue to support the new Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission Abdulrasheed Bawa, (EFCC) in his new office, the Niger State president of NYCN Comrade Bashir Bello Sheriff has said.

He stated that the leadership of the council across the country are proud of his appointment into the office as the chairman at the ripe age of 40 assuring that his appointment is an indication that the country has some talented youths that can be assigned with such public offices.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Newsmen in Minna at the weekend, Bashir Bello explained that the NYCN National leadership has been at the fore front of agitating for youths to be assigned with public office, stressing that the appointment of Abdulrasheed Bawa as the chairman of the EFCC under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has come at the right time.

According to him, as a young man in his early 40s, coupled with the fact that he was among the pioneer staff of the agency, he will put in his wealth of experience already acquired as a crack detective of the agency who has investigated high profile cases in the agency under the years.

“We in the NYCN wish to appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing one of our own generation to pilot the high sensitive office of EFCC.

As an insider of the agency and as one of the pioneer detective of the commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, will definitely make the entire Nigerian youths and the country as a whole proud.

All he needed from us as Nigerians regardless of tribes and religious inclination is a collective prayer to enable him succeed in the discharge of his enormous responsibility at this crucial moment of our time as a country”, he asserted.

He requested the new chairman of the commission to leave above board in ensuring that his leadership in the commission would have a zero tolerance for corrupt related cases that would be brought to him insisting that his tenure in EFCC would put corrupt public and political office holders on their toes by bringing them to book.

Similarly, Comrade Bashir Bello appealed to the entire men and officers of the agency to join hands with him to rid the country of corruption that has hitherto eaten deep into the fabric of the country’s national treasury, noting that with their collective support, he will ensure corruption free Nigeria under his leadership.

“With your support and cooperation, in the commission, which he required, as his operatives in the agency together, his leadership will make the country corruption free Nigeria.

“His success as the chairman, would be a collective success to all of you.

“And his failure should also be seen as a failure to all of you and we don’t pray for that it is our prayers in the leadership of NYCN for you all to succeed in making the country currupt free.

He the urged the chairman of the EFCC to involve every members of the agency in the day to day operational activities of the commission, this, according to him, will give every operatives a sense of responsibility in the discharge of their duty.
