Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR), has raised concern that three months after the Local Government election in Kogi State, results are still shrouded in secrecy by the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC).

Executive Director, Idris Miliki Abdul in a statement he made available to journalists in Lokoja on Thursday said, the results haven’t been declared and were not uploaded on SIEC’s website for records and research purposes.

Abdul maintained that election which was conducted in Kogi State on the 12th of December 2020, by the State Independence Electoral Commission (SIEC) has no results available to the public with no evidence anywhere to show that there was election in Kogi State.

“ No result was posted despite the colossal amount claimed to have been spent on what he refferred to as kangaroo elections, in a digital age by the state government, the SIEC in the state despite having a website. push({});

The CHRCR in the statement wondered why the State electoral body was yet to pay allowances and entitlements of those who performed one responsibility or the other, saying, it was aware of huge budgetary provision in the 2020 State appropriation.

The group in the statement further called on SIEC to release the LG results without delay for the purpose of records, research, documentation, transparency and accountability.

According to him, the statistical data of the local government council elections conducted on the 12 December 2020 should be made public, noting that failure to release the results amount to corruption.
