Jubilation in Benue as governor orders implementation of minimum wage agreement

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has directed the State Head of Service to immediately commence implementation of the interim agreement his administration reached with labour leaders on payment of N30,000 minimum wage to civil servants on grade levels one to six.
The directive has however, sparked jubilation among civil servants who said, they have been waiting the the development.
A staff of the State Ministry of Education who identified himself as Mr Iortim Okuma in a telephone conversation with CAPITAL POST on Tuesday, said, the implementation would improve the finanacial status of civil servants and boost commercial activities.
Meanwhile, the Governor who met with the labour union leaders early Tuesday appreciated them for their understanding and reaffirmed his commitment to implementation of the agreement.
He assured Benue workers that the present administration will continue to give priority to their welfare while addressing other challenges of development.
