Crisis looms in Nasarawa as leadership crisis rocks Hausa/Fulani association

There is palpable tension in Lafia, capital of Nasarawa State as leadership crisis rocking the agelong Hausa/Fulani association keep deepening by the day.

Our correspondent reports that the association has over two million registered members which was formed more than 70 years ago in the state.

History has it that, Alhaji Mua’zu Maifata was the pioneer chairman of the association which was aimed at bringing unity and development of its members.

CAPITAL POST reliably reports that so many leaders led the association after the demise of Alhaji Mua’zu Maifata which include, Hamidu Baban Soro as well as Alhaji Kabiru Na Lami who is still the Chairman of the association untill recently when other members decided to break-up with Dr. Kabir a lecturer with the Federal University, Lafia, heading a faction.

The development has created serious sense of concern to many card carrying members of, Hausa/Fulani association in Nasarawa State as silent coup has taken place.

Findings revealed that the group has been been divided into three factions with same name and purpose, while a faction confided to our correspondent of the likely crisis if other factions refused to recognise them.

Speaking to our correspondent on behalf of their own faction, Ibrahim Imran said that they are not aware of the existence of Dr. Kabir faction.

“We are still loyal to Alhaji Kabiru Na Lami leadership as substantive chairman of Hausa/Fulani association and anything short of that, count us out.”

He pointed out that Dr. Kabir faction are minority, “therefore, their inauguration was an infraction of the constitution of the association”, he added.

As the crisis continue deepening by the day, another faction vows to form their own faction with a view to challenge, Dr. Kabir faction.

All efforts to contact either Dr. Kabir or members of his faction prove abortive before filing this report.
