Ex-Nasarawa governor bags title of Sardauna Gwandara

Gwandara Educational and Cultural Association has conferred traditional title of Sardauna Gwandara on former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Umar Al-makura for his contributions towards the upliftment of the association.

Announcing the title, the paramount ruler of Karshi chiefdom, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mohammadu Sani Bako stated that the decision to confer the Sardauna title on Al-makura was a collective resolve of all the Gwandara’s chiefs.

“Our decision was not far from his Al-Makura’s track record while serving as governor of Nasarawa State for 8 years he made us proud.

While outlined some of achievement recorded by Al-makura to include brokering peace among Gwandara and other tribes, Healthcare facilities not only in Gwandara land but the entire community, improvement of educational sector, road network among others.

“We, the Gwandara traditional rulers who are the custodian of culture, norms and value of our people are begging you to accept this title. It is our mandate to reward any hardworking sons and daughters of our nation to spur others”, Baki told Al-makura.

According to him, “I’m speaking on behalf of other traditional rulers of Gwandara nation as pay back time to you as ambassador who didnt fail his people while serving his fatherland. You are a true son of Gwandara”, the royal father added.

Accepting, the title bestward on him, Senator Umar Al-makura thanked his kingsmen for finding him worthy as Sardaunan Gwandara nation.

“I lack words to show my appreciation on this gesture done to me. This will encourage me to do more for my people and beyond.

He called on Gwandara community to continue to give maximum support and cooperation to Governor Abdullahi Sule to exceed all expectations.

“I know why I supported him to succeed me because he is a man of proven integrity who will continue from where we stopped and he will even do more.

Some sons and daughters of Gwandara who spoke to our correspondent described the decision of their royal fathers as a welcome development.

March 13th 2021 has been set aside for the turbaning ceremony.
