Interfaith group pushes for peace in Nasarawa

The inter religion faithfuls stormed Lafia the capital city of Nasarawa State to advocate for peace among various religious faith in the north central states.

Leader of the group, Ameer Mohammed Jameel Mohammed said that they were in Nasarawa to create awareness among Christian and Muslim youth wings.

“We are also in the state to create early warning and early response on conflict mechanism and conflict resolution in a bid to teach on principle of negotiation and mediation.

Ameer Mohammed said, this has become imperative because, “we observed absence of the kind of interfaith mechanism in almost the states of the federation.

“Havinģ taken a fact finding tour in some states to find out the root cause of the vices, as an organisation, we have decided to invite leaders of CAN and JNI from Nasarawa to Abuja for five days sensitization.

Ameer Mohammed pointed out that after the sensitization, “the organization also came to Nasarawa to train them to form interfaith team that will be responsible for maintaining peace, law and order so as to mitigate conflict before it escalates in Nasarawa state.

Our correspondent observed the group aimed to achieve peace and unity between divergent religious groups.

Ameer Mohammed confirmed that conflict is unavoidable, but it should be reduced to the barest minimum.

“We the leaders of CAN and JNI youth wings can reach to the promise land in averting crisis in our society”, they expressed confidence.
