The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission Rev. Yakubu Pam has said that the church in Nigeria is a critical stakeholder in Christian pilgrimage.
He disclosed this in Abuja while playing host to the Executive members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) North West zone.
He explained that the role of the church in the Commission cannot be overemphasized. His words,”the time has come to let the church know that without them Pilgrimage cannot succeed”.
He explained that NCPC cannot function effectively without the church playing critical role to advance the cause of Pilgrimage in Nigeria.
Rev. Pam commended the invaluable role of the indigenous Christians in the North West and had also contributed immensely to the success of NCPC. He affirmed, “we are proud of what you are doing in the North West zone despite intimidations and persecutions. ”
He assured that the Commission would partner with the North West CAN to encourage the brethren. According to him, “we are going to do everything possible to encourage the Christians in the zone.
The No 1 Christian Pilgrim Officer of the Federation intimated his guests that the Commission would flag off this year’s General Pilgrimage in December, stating that before December God,s healing hand would bring an end to the global COVID 19 pandemic.
He averred that there is no country in the world that had good relationship with Israel that would experience failure.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for sustaining Christian Pilgrimage in Nigeria. He tasked the church to take ownership of Christian pilgrimage while the government plays only regulatory role.
Rev. Pam urged the CAN leaders to strive to promote self sponsorship to enable individual members of their church participate in Pilgrimage.
He thanked the chairman of the CAN North Central zone for his examplary leadership.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN North West zone, Bishop David Bakare said they were in NCPC to congratulate him on his well deserved appointment.
He assured the NCPC boss that they were willing to partner with the Commission to move Christian pilgrimage forward.
He affirmed that the NCPC boss was appointed at a very challenging time, especially in view of the challenges posed by the global COVID 19 pandemic.
However ,he said ,” you have gone through difficult times in the past, but God was preparing you for a time like this”.He prayed that the Lord would grant him good health at all times.
Bishop Bakare was accompanied on the visit by the Vice President as well as the National Secretary of the Association.
