Edo PDP primaries: Obaseki, aspirants settle out of court

Reprieve came the way of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki who is contesting for a re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as his co-aspirants have agreed to settle out of court.

Mr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, a contestant and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party has approached a Port Harcourt Federal High Court to restrain Godwin Obaseki from contesting Edo governorship primary.

Omoregie prayed the Court to restrain Obaseki on grounds that he is a new entrant to the party. This is in spite of the waiver granted Obaseki by the National Working Committee of PDP.

He further argued that since Obaseki was not part of the candidates screened by the PDP National Working Committee, NWC initially before the date on the timetable lapsed, he should not be allowed to participate in the primaries

Counsel to the Omoregie, Ferdinand Orbir, according to the report, at the resumed hearing of the matter on Wednesday, told the court that they have served all the parties to the suit as ordered by the court, the originating summons and also published the order in two national newspapers. adsbygoogle || []).push({});
