The National Youth Cordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party, and the Spokesperson of Wada/Aro Campaign Council, Comrade Usman Okai Austin has urged the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello to pay the state workers their remuneration without delay.

He told the governor to pay full workers salaries,  adding,  “fasting period is not a time to slash or withhold workers salary as that is an act of wickedness and inhuman.
“Our Muslim brothers and sisters in Kogi like others across the world are fasting and they should be paid full salaries.”

Okai Austin who made the call on Monday while addressing media men in Abuja, said since Bello claimed that there is no case of coronacirus in Kogi and the State has not been lockdown, one wonders why Bello is planning to pay workers half salary, insisting that it is criminal and extortious.

Austin Okai  noted that before the last election Yahaya Bello said he has repented and today he is yet to demonstrate any sign of repentance.

The PDP Youth Leader also cautioned Labour leaders in the state to seek National help should the Governor resort to intimidation and harassment. He enjoined them not to be compromised by the govenor who has the habit of not paying workers.

The youth leader  wondered why the governor who is a Muslim has resorted to depriving people their entitlement in a sacred month meant for sacrifice. He said if Bello is claiming there is shortfall in allocation,  let him declare Kogi State state’s wage bill.

The Kogi State governor who spent months in a protected workers screening when he came into the office, is expected to have downsized the state work force to ease salary payment. It’s noticed that this Sallah makes it the fourth fasting periods the workers in the state would be owed.

Kogi who stands as the state with the highest number of mineral resources has the capacity of paying her workers with Internally Generated Revenues if the opportunities littered around the state are effectively taped.
