CDD alledges ‘political corruption’ in Buhari’s government in five years – Report

The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) has rated the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari low through its initiative, Buharimeter, accusing it of turning blind eyes to ” political corruption in the country.
The CDD position was contained in the scorecard on the performance of Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade in the last five years.
The report accused Buhari of condoning allegations of corruption levelled against his political associates.
In terms of fiscal transparency, the report said the APC-led government has been opaque with the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) which has become less transparent and vulnerable to political influence.
The Centre for Democracy and Development further faulted Buhari of failing to curb massive corruption in the security sector.
The report however recommended measures aimed at redirecting Buhari’s administration back to the path of recovery; asking it to sack and sanction government officials and members of his ruling party exerting undue pressure on the anti-graft agencies.
It also asked Buhari to improve transparency and accountability in the areas of budget, expenditures and awards of contracts especially in the petroleum, power, defence and
humanitarian sectors even as it called on Buhari to publish details of its transaction online.
