Crisis in Kogi community over ‘torture to death’ of a thief suspect

Crisis on Tuesday morning erupted at
Egagbebe and Ofabo in Ofu Local Government Area in Kogi East Senatorial District as members of the local vigilante group allegedly tortured a suspected thief to death.

The suspect was arrested and handed over to the vigilante alive but later died in their custody.

Immediately news filtered in that the alleged criminal had died, youths became angry, went on to burnt down the APC leader’s house.

In the ensuing milee, the Ofabo and the entire villagers went up in arms attaking each others with dangerous weapons, before police was drafted to the scene.

CAPITAL POST gathered that the crisis started on Sunday and spilled over to Monday till Tuesday, but before the intervention of security agents, properties worth million of naira have been destroyed.

It is recalled that Ofu Local Government in the Kogi East Senatorial District was where the ill fated burning of the PDP woman leader, Salome Achejuh Abuh took place.
